Maureen C. Miller Is a Graduate Of the Ohashi Institute and a Senior Instructor where for over 30 years she has been teaching all lLevels of the Ohashi Method, Masunaga’s Zen Shiatsu and courses of her own design In Chicago, Maryland, New York City, and the Omega Institute for Holistic Studies In New York, Kripalu for Yoga & Health in Massachusetts, Dai Bosatsu Zendo, Kongo-Ji, in New York, and extensively in Europe. She also taught and trained many Shiatsu Ka. 

 

Maureen has an extensive background in dance and practiced the Martial Arts of Aikido (3rd Degree Black Belt) and Karate (1st Degree Black Belt). She is currently enjoying the practice of Vinyasa Yoga, gentle strength training and zumba and contemporary dancing. 

 

Maureen’s private sessions combine the movement of dance, Martial Arts, and Yoga with the Art of touch and the knowledge of Shiatsu to give a very profound, graceful, and beneficial session which focuses on the needs and wants of her clients. 

 

Maureen’s sessions work with the client's Ki energy to calm the nervous system, deepen the breath and release tension and stress, allowing the energy and systems of the body to flow and operate with more ease. 

 

With sincerity and with joy, Maureen is so very grateful to Ohashi and the Ohashi Institute with their many wonderful teachers and students throughout the world. 

 

Among others, Maureen has studied with Shizuko Yamamoto, Kiko Matsumoto, Pauline Sasaki and at the Kushi Institute in Massachusetts. 

 

Maureen feels blessed to have studied with many wonderful dancers and choreographers in the top modern dance companies. She performed with Charles Weidman and other choreographers in New York City and throughout the United States. 

 

Maureen feels honored to have studied Martial Arts with Nobuyoshi Higashi Sensei, president of Kokushi Budo of New York. 

 

Always thankful to her parents who gave her the gift of movement and through their teaching and practice of touch for health the love of meridians and Ki. 

 

Maureen joined the Five Lights Center In 2025, bringing over 30 years of shiatsu experience, research, and knowledge to teach and share with students and teachers. She is also available for private sessions and private tutorials.
