Tuina, originating in ancient China, encompasses a wide range of therapeutic practices widely recognized in the West today. With roots dating back to 2700 BC, the term "Tuina" was officially coined during the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644). Later, during the Qing Dynasty (1644–1911), the publication of The Golden Mirror of Medicine introduced eight methods specifically for treating traumatic injuries.
Tuina focuses on the sinew channels, which are more superficial than the primary channels, targeting specific body zones where energy flow may be disrupted. This practice is closely tied to Wei Chi energy, which acts as the body's first line of defense against external pathogens, preventing their deeper penetration.
